MORNING PRAYER
|
Glorious is the morning that shines across the
mountainside.
A curtain of gentle fire is drawn across the sky
Beckoning us to the new day calling us to life
The trees stand silent. Naked, vulnerable, magnificent.
Mute testimony to the winter wilderness existing in my heart
Deep within their life force burns with quiet power
Slowly, gently, inexorably moving toward the sun.
Do not ignore the silent tree or the curtain of the dawn.
They send a message to the souls of the earth.
Of eternity and mystery. Of power from beyond
Watch them reverently. Cherish their silent shout.
They speak of life and death they speak of light and darkness
They play their part in the web of creation.
They speak of truth.
Humbly they call to you to witness the glory
|
|
|
Of God's gentle spirit of God's eternal love
Listen as they whisper the message of the universe
You must pause and wait and watch with them
And trust the inner process
Calling you to new life in the promise of spring. |

INVISIBLE MYSTERY
|
A seed is planted
Life within my body
Invisible particle
Almighty design
Begins to unfold.
The seed sprouts
Cells expand
Organs defined Bud becomes
visible Heart beating.
A symphony of life Opening
number Cells divide
follow the music played
flawlessly
Invisible mystery Conducts the
score A child takes shape Its
purpose imprinted on its soul
Unique and terrifying creature
My body sustains your life Keeps
you safe Warm and nourished
Until the day You hurtle from
your cave Thrust into the light
Fragile and delicate We scream
in unison At the crescendo of
birth The agony of separation I
draw you close Wish to swallow
you back To return to the safety
Of singleness Milk rushes from
my body Easing your hunger
Providing connection Hoping to
hold you
Forever |
Instantly you draw away
Curious and bold
Expanding circle of power
Including others
Within our magic tent.
I revel in your growth
Rejoice in your uniqueness
Wistfully remembering
The time when we
Were one
I rejoice at the moments
You return to find
Sustenance Once more.
You grow ever stronger
Travel further afield
Little by little
Gaining distance Your infant
cries and Childhood tantrums
Give way to adolescence I watch
horrified as You strengthen.
Deep in my heart Lies the
knowledge Of the original
design Relentlessly we move
Forward toward the time when
you must leave Misty become
The days of your youth
Departure sudden, wrenching
Slow and agonizing Screams of
your birth Echo once more In
my heart. |

SILENT VOICE
|
You speak to me of wondrous things
Of love and hope and mystery
I hear your voice just below the surface sounds of life.
Your presence surrounds me, enticing.
You draw me down to the deep
You sustain me with your silent words
And gift me with
Glimmers of wisdom
What do I DO with
Your magnificence? Must I DO at all? |
 |
|
How can I BE with Your glory?
Open my heart to your call.
Love is a place I know little of
The love called giving of myself
My heart wants to hold it.
File it away.
Show me the courage to share.
Take me to places
You need to be.
Speak through me words
You would say.
Send me the souls needing Your heart. |
|
| Give me the presence which is Yours. |

LEADING THE WAY
|
Open the door to
Your dwelling place
I implore You bid me enter
I long for the privilege
of Your presence
Calling to You from
this place apart |
I trust in Your light to
find the way
To visit upon me Your splendor
I know You are here
Though I cannot detect You
Knowing not what I'm expecting
Anticipating Someone |
|
Pleading to
hear Your
voice
I care not
what words
You bring
I only ask that
You speak.
Waiting
impatiently,
I camp on
Your porch
Trusting
in Your
response
All I hear
is silence. |
 |
I think I know
You constantly
surprise me
Gems of wisdom
from a guest
An old friend
telephones.
Special meaning
in a book
Our daughter
sends a
loving note
A movie holds
special meaning
I find You where
I'm not
looking |
|
The tinny
music of my
own thoughts
In this silent
nothing-
this voiceless abyss
Sounds of the dryer,
children playing Echoes of life
I throw wide the doors
Draw open the drapes
Bid welcome with
outstretched arms
Come quickly, dine with me
I beg You to enter
this humble abode
Though the entrance be
littered with debris |
I find You
where I am
You're here
with me
Not there outside
It's Your presence I inhale
You are my life's breath
Your blood flows through my veins
Your energy moves my body
Your power moves my soul.
You are my delight and joy
Send me Your people
Show me Your path
For with You I walk
wherever You lead |

ANCIENT PRAYERS
|
What is it about the Psalms that continues to draw us in? For most of my life, they were just dusty, dry words that someone had written ages ago. They didn't seem to hold meaning for me today, or so I thought until grace entered in and breathed the spirit of God upon the ancient poems and brought them to life. I was blessed with the knowledge that what the psalms have to say is as pertinent today as it has been throughout the centuries and that they aren't finished yet! The story of God's relationship with us is being written in each of our lives NOW HERE, The following "psalms" tell my story. They are the words I've heard as I've listened to the Living God, Not the One who existed 2000 or more years ago; not the One who will come again; but the One who lives today, here, and now in my very ordinary life. |

Ancient prayers of naked emotion
Timeless testimony of enduring faith
Ageless poetry
Eternal Wisdom
Heartfelt praise
Joyous melodies
Abject terror
Despair and darkness
Wails of agony
Sobs of contrition
Pleas for mercy
Cries for help
A kaleidoscope
Of human emotion
Wrapped in mystery Connected in faith
To the One
The Creator
The Poet Consummate
The Author of Infinity

TODAY'S PROPHETS
|
Who are today's prophets?
What is my gospel story?
Where is Jesus in my Jerusalem?
Am I a disciple, pharisee
or afflicted one?
Where is my temple?
Is it a marketplace?
Where does my treasure lie?
I will come and sit with you.
Converse with your soul.
You'll hear the words you're longing for.
You are mine, you belong to me
We have much work to do.
I need you to open yourself to me.
To listen closely with your heart.
Where is your heart, you ask me.
It's the doorway to your soul
quiet and silence are friends.
Listen. I am here.
write down the words that come to you.
Let them gently emerge.
Encourage my presence
wherever you find it
|
I'm listening with my heart.
Keep speaking with Your voice.
I wish only to hear You.
You are my dearest friend.
My guide, my companion, my God. Speak to me of Your wisdom.
Bring my presence to those I send you.
Listen to them with love. Remember me as you're present to them.
I will guide you. . . always.
What if I can't hear You?
I am with you.
What if I can't feel You?
I am with you.
What if I do it wrong?
I am with you, making it right.

BREATHE IN BREATHE OUT
|
Sitting
At Your doorstep,
Waiting.
Mind wanders.
Returns.
Focus once more.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Sink down.
Settle back.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Let go.
Resist not.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Relax.
Surrender.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Dissolve.
Melt away.
Breathe in,
Breathe out
|
|
I depart.
Disappear.
Become One with peace;
Silent Center found.
United with humanity;
Touched with divinity;
Now and for eternity.
Savor The Presence.
Abide with The Spirit.
We are One.
